'Devious Maids' season 5 spoilers, update: What happened to Marisol

(Facebook/deviousmaids)"Devious Maids" season 3 speculations.

The fourth season of "Devious Maids" divulged a lot of information that seemingly unraveled a great deal of mystery, particularly the one surrounding Peri's (Mariana Klaveno) death. But instead of leaving viewers a chance to breathe after finally finding out Peri's killer, the show continued to inject more intrigue with Marisol's (Ana Ortiz) disappearance.

To recap, the season finale featured a year-long flashback to the day when Marisol was about to marry Peter (James Denton). Before the blushing bride could walk down the aisle, Evelyn (Rebecca Wisocky) sprinted across the aisle, telling everyone that Marisol was right behind her.

Based on how events transpired last season, many viewers believe that Marisol was kidnapped, but they don't seem to be certain of this. After the season finale, various rumors about Marisol's fate have been populating the internet.

The International Business Times have come up with theories about Marisol's disappearance. In the report, the author suggests that Marisol could have easily gotten cold feet and that jumping through the window wouldn't even be a drastic plot for the show.

Another theory has to do with The Circle, but this seems to be highly unlikely since, in an interview with TVLine, Executive Producer Sabrina Wind told the news network that they did intend to create an exit for The Circle in the fourth season. However, Wind added that if fans do want them to come back, then they might actually bring them back.

Like the rest of the world, IBT acknowledges that Marisol could have been abducted. They think that Jesse (Nathan Owens) might be responsible for the kidnapping. The jealous lover certainly fits into the storyline.

When asked about Marisol's disappearance and whether or not it was connected to events in the past seasons, Wind told TVLine that the disappearance will launch the new season. Talks with the network Lifetime are still in progress. But Wind did confirm that it will be a "completely new story."
