'Devious Maids' season 5 canceled; no happy ending for Marisol and Peter
Fans of "Devious Maids" are disappointed that Lifetime decided not to renew the series for season 5. This means there is no closure for Marisol (Ana Ortiz), who was kidnapped the night of her wedding to Peter (James Denton).
In August, executive producer Sabrina Wind told TV Line that they were optimistic that the show would get the green light for season 5. She said that they were in close contact with Lifetime about the possible new storylines, one revolving around Marisol's fate. The last installment ended with a cliffhanger, when an unknown person abducted the Latina just when she was about to wed her boyfriend, Peter. According to Wind, the revelation would usher them to the new season and that it was going to be a completely new story.
With the cancellation, fans will never know what happened to Marisol. Ortiz, as per IB Times, answered one of her followers on Twitter about her character's fate, assuring people that Marisol will likely survive in the end.
Meanwhile, the other stars of the show have expressed their thoughts on the sad news. Sol Rodriguez and Roselyn Sanchez, who played mother and daughter Daniela and Carmen, each posted a tweet, saying they enjoyed every minute of being in the show. Dania Ramirez, who played Rosie, also thanked the fans for their support, as well as the cast and crew for the "fun ride."
"#DeviousArmy I am so grateful to have been on such an incredibly fun ride! Thank you to all the writers/producers/actors that took part of this amazing journey. Rosie Falta will live on forever now and a big thanks to @abcnetwork & @lifetimetv for believing in us. Last but not least, THANKS to our amazing crew throughout the years. What a blast we all had! You guys are everything!!! #TeamRosie #Daniacs 4 Life! #RIPdeviousMaids," the actress wrote on her Instagram account.
