'Devious Maids' season 4: showrunner hopeful Lifetime will renew for fourth season

The third season of "Devious Maids" ended merely hours ago and fans were very satisfied with the show's highly anticipated reveal. The season finale literally ended with a bang leaving the plot of the upcoming season completely up in the air. Thankfully, details about the upcoming season were revealed by none other than the series' showrunner himself – Brian Tanen.
"Devious Maids," which first debuted in 2013, is a comedy-drama television series created by the same person behind "Desperate Housewives" – Marc Cherry. The show follows five Latina maids who work for the rich, famous, and powerful families in Beverly Hills.
Season three ended with not only the revelation that Sebastian, Carmen's fiancé, was indeed responsible for the string of murders but also with Michael dead and Sebastien and Adrian at the losing end of an explosion.
While the third season ended with a massive cliffhanger, Lifetime has yet to announce the show's fourth season renewal. Tanen, however, is confident that the network would give the series the resolution it deserves, claiming that the announcement of season four would come before the end of September.
"I am very optimistic. The show has been exciting and fun this year and I'm hopeful that Lifetime will give us a fourth season. It's not in my hands but I'm optimistic. We should have an answer about a potential season four by the end of September," said Tanen.
Tanen also hinted that the upcoming season would see quite a change, possibly with the inclusion of a new character:
"We have talked about various strategies, but I will say that at the beginning of every year we deviate quite a bit from the plan when we figure out who our new characters are going to be. I wouldn't place any bets right now on what's going to happen. It's a little bit up in the air."
