'Despicable Me 3' news, release date: New trailer features Trey Parker's villainous Balthazar Bratt

A new trailer is out for the upcoming film "Despicable Me 3" and it introduces the new villain that Gru has to face: Balthazar Bratt, a former child star who is obsessed with the '80s.

Steve Carell is back as the voice of the lovable character Gru, who is now married to Lucy, voiced by "Saturday Night Live" alum Kristen Wiig. The trailer features the crime-fighting duo, nicknamed by Lucy as "Grucy," as agents part of the Anti-Villain League. The clip, which lasts for two and a half minutes, also highlights Gru's cute, yellow minions.

The villain of the film, Balthazar Bratt, voiced by "South Park" creator Trey Parker, is prominently featured in the trailer. Dressed in a purple suit with shoulder pads, the trailer teases Bratt carrying out a robbery as he orders a robot to play him his heist music. The villain then proceeds to dive into the deep blue and even moonwalk on the ocean's surface as Michael Jackson's "Bad" plays. He climbs up the side of a large ship and manages to take down its crew with one simple bubble gum weapon.

The Anti-Villain League is informed of the crime and deduces that Balthazar Bratt is the one behind it after capturing an image of him at the scene. Bratt steals a large, pink diamond from the ship and dances his way out. Gru and Lucy are dispatched to take care of the situation. The pair arrive and witness the ship being lifted in the air — thanks to the bubble gum contraption that has enveloped the vessel. Lucy launches Gru into the air and onto the ship, confronting Bratt just in time. But the villain, using a weaponized keytar, blows Gru away — stripping him off his clothes and humiliating him in front of the guests of a birthday party.

The upcoming animated film will also see Dru, Gru's long-lost twin brother, who is also voiced by Carell. However, it looks like fans will have to wait to see the new character in action as he is not seen in the trailer.

"Despicable Me 3" will premiere on June 30, 2017.
