Even though the hit Korean drama "Descendants of the Sun" has not been officially renewed for a second season, rumors about it are circulating the Internet nonstop.

According to rumors, the 30-year-old male lead of the drama Song Joong-Ki, who played his comeback role as Army Captain Yoo Si Jin, is possibly not returning on the yet-to-be announced season 2. Apparently, his decision is influenced by the unexpected fame and publicity he got after he took the role, which is rumored to be something he is not entirely happy about.

Some reports claim that the superstar is a little bit uncomfortable with the sudden massive fame that he is getting since it has started to affect his private life. Aside from the fact that his family has been getting a lot of exposure, a photo of his ex-girlfriend also surfaced online, which was not received well by some fans.

"To say that these are things I need to endure for the sake of celebrity... that's sad," the actor said according to a report from The Straits Times.

However, Song or KBS has not confirmed his status on the show or even the renewal of the show yet. But the president of KBS drama department, Jung Song Ho, seems interested in the show's sequel. In fact, he revealed that there are already talks of the show's renewal and it could hit the small screens anytime in 2017.

"We have to keep discussing whether it will be a story of a soldier or not," President Jung said, according to Soompi. "We are advancing with projects that the production team and cast can consent to. We also have to think about the aspect of pre-production."

While fans wait for the official announcement, the cast members and singers of the show's OST will appear and perform in a special concert on May 14 at Kyonggi University in Seoul, South Korea.
