'Deadpool' update: Rough cut is fantastic, says executive producer; sequel already in the works and awaiting confirmation from Fox

"Deadpool" is one of the most exciting Marvel movies yet to be released. That much was evident in the first full-length trailer and the reaction from superhero fans. Because of that, executive producer, Simon Kinberg, is looking forward to creating "Deadpool 2."

"Deadpool 2" started out while Kinberg and the rest of the production team were on set of "Deadpool." Kinberg admits that they have already bounced around ideas for a sequel but that they are still awaiting confirmation from Marvel Entertainment and 20th Century Fox.

"We certainly are talking about the sequel—we were talking about the sequel while we were making the movie just because when you make a film like this that's from a serialized source material, you hope that it's the first of many... But yeah [Fox is] feeling good about it, we're all feeling really proud of it, so hopefully before it comes out we will be well into the process of figuring out a sequel," quotes Collider.

But while "Deadpool 2" is still a shot in the wind, "Deadpool" is definitely happening. And the film, only five months away from release, already has a rough final product. And the executive producer says "it's fantastic." He also explains that the feel of the whole movie will not deviate from the feel of the "Red Band" trailer: action-packed and funny. It will also be very much like the Marvel anti-hero in that it is edgy, dark, and R-rated.

The movie puts Ryan Reynolds in the title role and T.J. Miller as his best friend, Jack Hammer aka Weasel. It recounts the origins of Deadpool, whose alter-ego, Wade Wilson, was turned into the mentally unstable antihero after undergoing unconventional medical procedures. Deadpool is known to most as the "Merc with a Mouth," which means that his movie will really have some off-color and nasty remarks.

"Deadpool" hits theaters on Feb 12, 2016.
