"DC's Legends of Tomorrow" has yet to pin a release date but fans are already getting showered with other details including casting. The latest news about the cast points toward an important character in the show's Hawkman-Hawkgirl story arc.

Comicbook.com reports the casting of Peter Francis James for The CW's upcoming spin-off series, "DC's Legends of Tomorrow." James will be portraying Dr. Aldus Boardman, whom Warner Bros. Television pins as a classic professor in St. Roch University, knowledgeable on the stories of Chayara/Kendra Saunders aka Hawkgirl and Prince Khufu/Carter Hall aka Hawkman. He also has particular knowledge of how the two are linked to Vandal Savage (Casper Crump), who will be attempting to break down the world and time itself.

Like most characters on "Legends of Tomorrow," Dr. Boardman will appear on other DC series in The CW prior to appearing on the 2016 superhero fiction. The 59-year-old actor will first portray the role in an "Arrow" crossover this season four.

Though Dr. Boardman has never existed in the DC University prior to his The CW show appearances, St. Roch University has always factored into Hawkman's story. And it seems that he will be a particularly important character as Warner Bros. also teased that he is the only hope in tracking down Vandal; however, having him on the Legends team will mean a bigger sacrifice for the world.

Hawkgirl and Hawkman will be portrayed in the series by Ciara Renée and Falk Hentschel, respectively. The two, as familiar to most DC fans, are fated to reincarnate through time and manifest their powers when provoked. Joining them in trying to salvage the world are Professor Martin Stein aka Firestorm (Victor Garber), Ray Palmer aka The Atom (Brandon Routh), Sara Lance aka White Canary (Caity Lotz), and time-traveler, Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill). Also in the series are Leonard Snart aka Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller) and Mick Rory aka Heat Wave (Dominic Purcell).

Watch out for Dr. Alan Boardman and the other Legends members when "Legends of Tomorrow" premieres some time in 2016.
