"Dark Souls 3" is about to receive its first downloadable content (DLC) titled "Ashes of Ariandel." There are still a few weeks' worth of wait before its release, but fans are all geared up for the new content.

The "Dark Souls 3" DLC "Ashes of Ariandel" will introduce the frozen land of Ariandel, Christian Today reported. The new map will present a lot of new nooks and crannies to explore and mysteries to solve.

"Players will find themselves steeped in a brand new environment filled with terrifying new enemies, challenges and exciting lore to expand the overarching Dark Souls 3 storyline," said Bandai Namco (via Gamespot).

The protagonist will have to find out why the land was defiled, which will require the players to defeat the evil lurking within the icy domain. According to reports, the villain has similarities with the Crow Demon.

As per the official description, "Ashes of Ariandel" will also bring in "new weapons, armor sets, and magic for players to discover and experiment with," Forbes reported. Players can also expect new features in the competitive multiplayer mode, which is a popular aspect of the game. This is reportedly the new player-versus-player (PvP) mode Immortal Competition.

Bandai Namco has also launched a trailer for "Ashes of Ariandel," which is set to be only one of the two DLC planned for release. The main character can be seen braving the ice and cold that envelops the new map below.

A lot of fans have noticed that the DLC seems to be a shout-out to the Painted World of Ariamis, which was featured in the original "Dark Souls."

"Dark Souls 3: Ashes of Ariandel" is priced at $14.99. There is a Season Pass that costs $24.99, which will get the players this DLC and the next one as well.

The "Dark Souls 3: Ashes of Ariandel" DLC is slated to be released on Oct. 25 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
