All comic universes are starting to tie neatly and seamlessly with their TV and movie counterparts as both Marvel and DC launch their own versions of cinematic universes. The CW is totally on board, having three TV series that all exist in one superhero universe. The network added one more to the mix, this time focusing on a female superhero with animalistic powers.

Vixen is Mari McCabe in real life. Unfortunately, her parents died, leaving her the Tantu Totem, which she discovered lets her take on any animal's powers which can help stop crime and threats. Producer and director, James Tucker, describe her best as, "She's a frustrated student who has identity issues. She doesn't know where she belongs. She doesn't feel like she's quite in the place she ought to be."

Vixen is now featured in her very own six-episode animated web series that DC fans can watch on CW Seed, CW's very own streaming website. The first episode just launched yesterday, Aug. 25.

The animated series is set against the same world as "Arrow" and "The Flash" (and soon "Legends of Tomorrow"). As such, viewers will see animated versions not just of Oliver Queen aka Arrow and Barry Allen aka The Flash, but also of Felicity Smoak and Cisco Ramon. Because of the appearance of their animated counterparts, Stephen Amell, Grant Gustin, Emily Bett Rickards, and Carlos Valdes are all on-board to voice their respective roles. Voicing the Vixen is actress Megalyn Echikunwoke.

To help viewers understand how Vixen's story ties with Arrow's and Flash's, CW launched a featurette about the show. A few people behind the show — Tucker, executive producer, Marc Guggenheim, lead character designer, Phil Bourassa, and WB Animation Senior VP, Peter Girardi — talked about how the shows are connected.

The featurette shows how the three superheroes collaborate with each other to protect their respective cities. Guggenheim said the action scenes in the mini-series will be "fast and expensive and enormous."

New "Vixen" episodes are posted every Tuesday, with the second one coming out this Sept. 1.
