'Criminal Minds' season 11 spoilers: Dr. Spencer Reid goes on a deadly date

Dr. Spencer Reid had been absent from "Criminal Minds" in the past three episodes, which had some fans clamouring for some screen time with the Behavioural Analysis Unit's resident geek. And it seems the people behind the show have heard this clamour, bringing him right back in the first episode after the season 11 winter break. Not only that, it seems he is about to get a new love interest.
Dr. Spencer Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler) has not had the best of luck when it comes to love in "Criminal Minds." In season one, he got into danger after flirting with actress Lila Archer (Amber Heard), whom the Behavioural Analysis Unit was tasked to look after. In season eight, it seems he finally found the person who will forever spark his genius mind, geneticist Maeve Donovan (Beth Riesgraf). But she died later in the season at the hands of her stalker. It looks like the unlucky streak continues in episode seven of season 11.
Titled "Entropy," the seventh episode of the current season will see the resident geek going out on a date. But she won't be who she initially makes herself out to be, as she later places a whole restaurant in danger. It will be up to Reid and his genius brain to save everyone. As TVLine revealed, his date Cat Adams (guest star Aubrey Plaza) will reveal what she knows of his work as an FBI Agent and will engage him in a game of wits so he can save a roomful of unsuspecting victims.
That's as much information as is available on what's happening next with the CBS police procedural drama. There's no official synopsis yet but there's already word on who's writing and directing the episode. Costume designer BJ Rogers posted a sneak peek of the script on Twitter and it revealed that "Entropy" will be written by Breen Frazier and helmed by Heather Cappiello.
Watch Spencer Reid deal with another blow on his love life when "Criminal Minds" season 11 returns on CBS on Jan. 13, 2016.
