Cleveland Cavaliers trade rumors 2016: Mo Williams out of The Land?

There might be a rift between the reigning National Basketball Association champions Cleveland Cavaliers and veteran point guard Mo Williams that likely assures the latter is leaving "Believeland."

In a report by Joe Vardon of Cleveland.com, while answering queries about the Cavs, he was asked why Williams was absent during the ring ceremony.

Vardon's answer suggested that the team's relationship with Williams started heading south due to the events that transpired ahead of the new campaign.

A part of Vardon's response to the question read: "He's not welcome, after picking up his $2.2 million option, deciding to retire the day training camp opened, and then electing to have knee surgery without filing retirement papers or negotiating a buyout with the Cavs, forcing them to keep him on their roster and pay him (while they search for a team to take his contract off their hands)."

The Cavaliers are reportedly unhappy with Williams since they are paying him even if he is not seeing action for them this season. It is serious for the champs, considering the fact that they are already over the luxury tax line.

Because of the financial aspect of this, together with Williams' actions in the off-season, it is believed that the Cavs are seeking trade partners for him. However, this is a difficult job to execute since no one in the league would take the risk of sacrificing for an aging player who is coming off an injury and is yet to see action.

But one thing can be expected, the Cavaliers are no longer accepting Williams back even if he recovers from his surgery. The 33-year-old's second stint in Cleveland is likely over.

Now, what the Cavs should do is to look at their options to remove Williams then use his roster spot to add a guy who can contribute to their title defense.
