'Civilization 6' release date: New trailer shows Norway, Viking Longships
The new "Civilization 6" trailer released by 2K Games showcases Norway and all its unique features.
The civilization in Norway is headed by Harald Hardrada, Gaming Bolt reported. The "Civilization 6" trailer also shows that players can have their naval units do coastal raids. The report noted its similarity to Norwegian Vikings in real-world history.
According to iDigital Times, the leader's ability is "The Thunderbolt of the North."
The "Civilization 6" country also has the Viking Longship, which can perform heal in neutral territory atop coastal raids. At the ground, players have the Berserkers, who descriptions say "were intimidating warriors who fought with ravenous ferocity as they plundered enemy lands and struck down enemies without hesitation," as per the official post.
"Berserkers were driven by uncontrollable rage as they allegedly performed superhuman feats in battle, despite being mostly clad in animal skins rather than armor," the post goes on to say.
This unit is great for attacking and pillaging, as the former has a bonus while the latter costs one less movement. However, it is bad at defending because it is more vulnerable.
Lastly, a unique building is also shown off. The Stave Church performs just like a regular Temple, but has bonuses from the woods.
The buildings were based on north-western European stone churches that were constructed with timber posts. Although the Stave Church were numerous back in the day, the originals (and not replicas) can now almost be found exclusively in Norway.
Norway, just like any civ in the game, has its advantages and disadvantages. But reports noted that it is good for those on the offensive.
Other countries previously detailed with their unique items include United States, Japan, Spain, Egypt and more. The Aztec is a pre-order bonus that comes with the unique leader Montezuma I. Interested gamers can pre-order here.
"Civilization 6" is set to be released on Oct. 21 exclusively for PC.
