'Civilization 6' news, updates: Poland-themed premium DLC with leader Jadwiga goes live
Months after the release of the strategy game "Civilization 6," developers introduced its first premium downloadable content that tackles the expansionism of the Kingdom of Poland.
Developer Firaxis and publisher 2K Games decided to feature the first female monarch of Poland, Jadwiga, in the premium DLC. Jadwiga is also known as Hedwig and started serving Poland in October 1384 until she died in 1399. She succeeded her father, Louis the Great, who was known as King of Hungary and Poland.
According to the official description of the premium DLC through Steam: "Religious and expansionist, Poland can gain control of other civ's tiles when they fortify their borders, and Jadwiga makes Relics more valuable and Holy Sites more effective. A new scenario is also included: stand at the crossroads of Europe protecting the fertile Polish homelands from those who would seize it to empower themselves."
With the Poland civ, players can access the unique ability called "Golden Liberty" that will allow players to gain territory through building a fort or encampment. This ability even lets players steal an already established territory from another civ. Golden Liberty also gives players the option to change a Military Policy slot into a Wildcard slot, which in effect can make room for culture adjustments.
Also with Golden Liberty, Jadwiga will let players spread their religion to nearby territories after stealing them. The Poland DLC is also packed with the Winged Hussar that is strong enough to counter defending units.
The Poland DLC comes with a Cloth Hall called the Sukiennice that hands out a bonus on Production in foreign Trade Routes and gold in internal Trade Routes.
In the Jadwiga's Legacy mode, players can access 60 Turn Limit, fight off Teutonic Knights and Ottoman Turks to defend Poland, Prague, and Vienna, and enjoy more battles to emerge as the greatest leader of Poland.
Developers also released a Vikings-themed Scenario Pack DLC where players can assume the characters of Harald Hardrada of Norway, King Canute of the Danes or Olof Skotkonung of Sweden.
