A familiar face is expected to be introduced on the American action-drama "Chicago Fire" when it returns to NBC for a fifth season.

For the fans of Meredith's most recent love interest on the previous season of "Grey's Anatomy," the actor who portrayed the role, Scott Elrod, has been cast for the upcoming season of "Chicago Fire."

According to TV Line, Elrod will be appearing on the NBC series for a guest role as lifestyle celebrity Travis Benner. He is described as a good-looking lad who has a million of Instagram followers. Severide (Taylor Kinney) and Travis are expected to hit it off after meeting from a fire call. The known playboy Severide seems interest to join Brenner's clique.

Speaking of Severide, in a previous interview with TV Line, executive producer Matt Olmstead shared what could possibly happen to the character's love life.

"If we find somebody who he really clicks with, we would explore that as a relationship, and it so happens that there's a real chemistry [with Stella]," the EP said. "So we're not thinking, 'Well, that's not his M.O., so we've got to kick her to the curb, so he can keep on being a playboy.' We take it on a case-by-case basis. So we'll see when we finally get them together what it's like."

Olmstead admitted that Severide and Stella's (Miranda Rae Mayo) chemistry is promising and they are looking into exploring more of that. However, timing is important because they still want to show more of the complications of his past dating life, which would affect his and Stella's relationship.

In other news, it was announced by NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke at the recent Television Critics Association summer press tour that there will be a four-way crossover of the "Chicago" series on NBC. So expect "Chicago Fire" to cross over "Chicago Fire," "Chicago Med," and the upcoming "Chicago Justice."

"Chicago Fire" season 5 premieres Oct. 11, Tuesday, at 10 p.m. on NBC.
