'Castle' season 8 cast news: Four guests stars to join cast including 'High School Musical' alum
In the upcoming mid-season of "Castle" season 8, fans are in for a different treat. Two of the main cast members are going to make viewers hear their singing voices. And not just one, but four stars will make guest appearances — including one from the hit musical movie "High School Musical."
According to a report from Entertainment Weekly's Spoiler Room, Esposito (Jon Huertas) and Martha (Susan Sullivan) will be singing for an acapella group in a future episode that will also feature "High School Musical" alum Corbin Bleu. The star will play the role of Hunter Washington, the leader of an acapella group. Entertainment Weekly revealed that Washington will be involved in a murder, which will be shown in the show's ninth episode titled "Tone Death."
"For the first time ever in 'Castle' history, you go into a courtroom, you actually see a trial based on a case," co-showrunner Alexi Hawley disclosed to TVLine.
"I think it will be a treat for our longtime fans because it refers to several things that have happened in the last few years," added co-showrunner Terence Paul Winter.
Three other actors will be appearing on future episodes. TVLine confirmed that Nick Tarabay from "Spartacus" will be playing the important character of Russian Diplomatic Security Service agent Vasily Zhirov.
Hawley told the website, "We have a diplomatic security agent from Russia who comes, because there is the death of a Russian national. He's a big character."
Meanwhile, Ellen Woglom, a "Californication" alum, will play a cadet mentored by Kate Beckett (Stana Katic). Woglom and Tarabay will be on episode 11 titled "Dead Red," which will air on Feb. 15.
"Firefly" alum Summer Glau is also signed up for an episode, but fans would have to wait until episode 14 ("A Burden Blood") to see her on screen. She will play the role of a private detective who will go head to head with Richard Castle (Nathan Fillion).
Season 8 will resume on Feb. 8 for its ninth episode. The next two episodes will be aired on Feb. 14 and Feb. 15. And that is three episodes in just eight days.
