'Castle' season 7 spoilers: finale episode gets to bottom of Castle's disappearance

Devout watchers of the hit ABC show will have to wait a while to get their regular fix of Beckett and Castle. The duo will be taking a break and returning to the small screen on April 20.
But what can fans expect now that there are only three episodes left? Well, TVLine reports that the last three episodes will deal with Castle's disappearance. Fans of the crime procedural drama may be aware that Nathan Fillion's character went AWOL and nobody had any idea where he went or what he did, not even Castle himself. Now, the story will be focused on getting to the bottom of his disappearance.
A distinguished and highly intelligent psychiatrist makes an appearance in the finale. The shrink will assist Castle to pull out any repressed memories he has. But will Kate and Rick be prepared to know what they will know? International Business Times reports that confronting his 2-month disappearance will lead to deadly consequences. What could these deadly consequences be? "Sleeper" will also see actor Matt Letscher return as his fake Jenkins character. Moreover, "Scandal" star Mackenzie Astin is also slated to make an appearance as Phillip Bartlett in one of the final three episodes. "Star Trek" actor Michael Dorn guest stars as Dr. Carter Burke, who will most likely be the psychiatrist.
But what fans should really be worried about, apart from Castle's disappearance, is whether episode 23 will be series finale as opposed to a season finale. There is no word yet from ABC on a season eight and TVGuide reports that lead stars Stana Katic and Nathan Fillion do not have contracts for an upcoming season. When asked about a cancellation or renewal of the show, creator David Amann simply said, "We're hopeful that everything gets resolved. We have thought about a bunch (of) different scenarios, but our main obligation is just to our audience and delivering great shows. We're just building the best end of the season that we can."
