'Call of Duty: Black Ops 3' news: Awakening DLC to be released on the PS4 in February; DLC to add 4 multiplayer maps to the game
"Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" has been one of the most highly-anticipated games in recent history and just a month after its release, developer Treyarch has good news for fans – a new DLC that will be released in February. Unfortunately, it seems not everyone will have the chance to enjoy it.
Activision recently announced that "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3's" first DLC will be out on the PlayStation 4 by early February.
According to Geek, the DLC, called "Awakening," will be released on the PlayStation 4 first and rolled out a month later on the Xbox One and on the PC. Sadly, gamers on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles won't be getting the DLC.
This is the second time that PS3 and Xbox 360 owners have been shut out from some of "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3's" goodies. The game's single player campaign is also only available on the newer generation consoles. Activision had previously explained that the older consoles won't be able to handle the 1-4 player co-op single player campaigns. Although, they assured these gamers that the multiplayer game would remain intact.
The DLC pack is the first of four maps that will reportedly be released on "Black Ops 3." A recently released trailer for "Awakening" gave fans a peek at the new Zombies map, Der Eisendrache. This campaign is set in a medieval castle while a snowstorm is raging. The DLC will allegedly add four new mega gumballs in the game as well.
Aside from the medieval castle, other maps included in "Awakening" are the Gauntlet, which is set in a military facility, and a construction site in snowy Zurich called the Rise. There's also Splash, which is an abandoned waterpark, and a flying airship appropriately called Skyjacked, which is a remake of "Black Ops 2's" Hijacked.
"Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 Awakening" DLC will be released on the PlayStation 4 on Feb. 2, 2016. It will be the first time that a "Call of Duty" DLC will be released on the PlayStation platform before other gaming consoles.
