Call the Midwife season 4 spoilers: Two new nurses to join season 4 cast
The period series about a group of midwives in East End London will return for a fourth season soon, and it has been reported that two new characters will be added to the cast.
Details surrounding the fourth season of BBC's "Call the Midwife" are slim, though cast rumors are suggesting that a couple of nurses will be featured in the upcoming season. In the last season, Jenny Lee (Jessica Raine), left the show, as well as Cynthia Miller (Bryony Hannah). Though the show lost a couple of interesting characters, they will be replaced by nurse Barbara Gilbert (Charlotte Richie), and nurse Phyllis Crane (Linda Bassett).
The entrance of nurse Barbara Gilbert to the show will be met by some drama, though it won't be long as reports state that her character will be surrounded by positivity afterwards.
Charlotte Richie talked about her character to Enstarz and says that her Gilbert will have ample time to redeem herself after a shaky start in the show.
"She begins quite badly and sort of redeems herself later on," said Richie in an interview. Richie went on to share how her character will experience "tragic" instances, but her strong sense of adapting will help her as she moves forward.
"She has a couple of really tragic moments which is awful and then she kind of gets into her stride a bit more- but she still continues to make mistakes along the way."added Richie in the same interview.
Actress Linda Bassett also shared insight about her character and said that as an actress, she felt "delighted" to take on the opportunity to star in Call the Midwife since she is very well aware of what is happening during the time the series is set.
"I was delighted to be offered the job," said Bassett.
"I was born in the 50s so it's fun to work in a period that I can remember and know so much about," continued Bassett.
