Brooklyn Nets rumors: Answering the Bargnani question

The Brooklyn Nets made an unpopular signing by bringing in Andrea Bargnani from the New York Knicks. However, the Nets management see big things for the former number one pick and claims that he can start fresh with the team.
Bargnani has underachieved as part of the Knicks, resulting in many pages making fun at the big man for not being ready to play in the NBA.
However, Nets manager Billy King spoke about Bargnani, and revealed that they are not placing the same pressure that the Knicks had on the big man.
In an intereview posted by the Nets, King spoke about Bargnani and said, "We felt we needed another big, and when we started talking to them, and he was available, we like the fact that he can stretch the floor, give us three-point shooting. Lionel was saying, he probably can play with Brook, back Brook up, so it was to give us some added depth.
What we're doing is giving him an opportunity, but it's not costing us a lot of money to do that. And I think there's no pressure on him. We're not asking him to come in and be a savior. We're asking him to come in and just play basketball, and provide the shooting and experience that he has.
We said, here you got a fresh start. This is a new opportunity. So we always try to tell players when they come in, 'don't worry about what happened, this is a new opportunity. We're not going to judge you on your past.'"
By giving Bargnani a fresh start, he can keep playing at a high level and hopefully gain some fans along the way.
One thing that they need to keep an eye on is that Bargnani should be able to stay healthy to be able to prove his worth. Since having his best year with the Toronto Raptors in the 2010-11 season, where he averaged 21.4 points and 5.2 rebounds per game, Bargnani has struggled staying healthy—only averaging around 37 games per regular season.
Despite not having high expectations with the Nets, they need something from the big man. They need determination and the will to succeed that has not been present during his time with the Knicks.
The Nets are continuing to move on from a lackluster season they had. And with the departure of key players and the addition of the likes of Bargnani, there should be some sense of positivity for the club as they are willing to make bold moves in order to succeed.
