Brian Shaw Sacramento Kings new head coach news: Is he a perfect fit?
The Sacramento Kings are still in search for their next head coach following the ouster of George Karl, though no one has come close to signing yet. There is however one name that has cropped up from the ranks - former Denver Nuggets head coach Brian Shaw.
The Kings search will be very thorough, w/ lots of names, but one previously-unknown candidate has emerged: Brian Shaw. Mutual interest.

To recall, Shaw didn't exactly have a great tenure with the Nuggets. In fact, some believe he was one of the reasons behind the team's downfall. From a successful team, the Nuggets went spiraling down and many singled out the fact that Shaw made changes which were not needed.
From a small-ball and fast-paced squad, Shaw tried to transform the team into a deliberate offensive set where big men like JaVale McGee could operate from the inside. The ploy failed and the Nuggets were goners.
The Nuggets were simply failing with the traditional coaching approach that Shaw had in mind and dissension among the ranks slowly crept in. And as everyone knows, such led to his dismissal.
Calling to mind that deliberate set, Shaw's ideas could fare well with the Kings. DeMarcus Cousins is still around to fit that purpose and the Kings do have Rajon Rondo who can make things happen as he has shown this year.
But this is with the understanding that the Kings will retain Cousins and hopefully Rondo who becomes a free agent. Cousins has been rumored to have worn out his welcome, failing to live up to the franchise player tag. Without Cousins and/or Rondo, Shaw's system is unlikely to work.
Right now, it will be interesting to see if Shaw can weave his mastery in Sacramento, which is dying to get back on the right track. Shaw is one of many head coaches in search of a new job, though most have either signed or are close to signing with other teams in need of a head coach.
So far, no other name has been mentioned, which may indicate that Shaw has the inside track. Could it be made official in the coming weeks or months?
