The announcement that "Naruto" creator Masashi Kishimoto will finally be putting down his pen and wrapping up the popular ninja's saga was devastating to its millions of fans. But all is not lost as a new manga will arise, this time featuring Naruto's son, Boruto.

Manga fans were taken aback when Kishimoto revealed in November 2015 that after 15 years of writing and drawing "Naruto," he was finally stepping back from his popular creation. The news was surprising as "Naruto" was still at the peak of its popularity, with "Boruto: Naruto the Movie" dominating cinemas at the time.

However, the esteemed manga artist was set in his decision, having worked on the manga for 15 years without a break and then on the movie. At one point, he jokingly said that after wrapping up the series, he was finally able to go on his honeymoon, even though his son "has grown as big as Boruto."

But it's hard to keep a good story down and fans could now rest easy with the news that a new manga revolving around Boruto, Naruto's son, would soon be featured in Shonen Jump this spring.

However, the new manga will not be made by Kishimoto but by his successor, Mikio Ikemoto. The artist is Kishimoto's logical heir as he has worked closely with the artist on "Naruto." And what better way to start off a new series that focuses on a new generation of characters than by tapping Kishimoto's subordinate, someone who has learned from the master himself.

Ikemoto won't be working alone though. According to reports, Ukyo Kodachi, another artist who also worked on "Naruto" and in the hugely successful "Boruto: Naruto the Movie," is also on-board.

While Kishimoto won't be doing the writing or drawing of the "Boruto" manga, he will be supervising the project and ensuring that his legacy, which touts millions of fans around the world, will remain as fresh, unique and exciting as it was when he first started "Naruto" years ago.
