'Boruto' Manga 2016 spoilers: Boruto's own ninja story to begin May 9

(Weekly Shonen Jump)

Following the conclusion of 15-year-old manga series "Naruto" in 2014, a new manga series focusing on Naruto's son Boruto Uzumaki is expected to arrive on May 9. Aside from the new spin-off manga series, famed creator Masashi Kishimoto is also expected to release a one-shot manga that will be released on April 25.

The "Boruto" manga series will be written by Ukyo Kodachi and illustrated by Mikio Ikemoto. Ikemoto was Kishimoto's assistant and had worked closely with him for the original manga series "Naruto." Kishimoto, on the other hand, is expected to maintain a supervisory role in the development of the manga series.

Unlike the weekly releases of "Naruto," "Boruto" will instead feature a new installment each month. It will premiere in the Japanese magazine "Weekly Shonen Jump."

At this time, specific details about the storyline for the upcoming "Boruto" manga series have not yet been revealed. Its basic premise is to tell new heroic ninja tale that features the children of the main characters from "Naruto." Boruto will be joined by Sasuke and Sakura Haruno's daughter Sarada and Orochimaru's son Mitsuki. The appearance of original "Naruto" characters will also provide hints of nostalgia for its loyal readers.

According to published reports, it is possible that the new manga series will show Boruto and his friends to have grown up a bit since they were last seen in "Boruto: Naruto the Movie." It is also rumored that the manga series will explore Orochimaru's identity. However, other than these two storylines, not much has been reported on.

Fans of the "Naruto" universe will have to patiently wait for official announcements as they are revealed in the coming weeks. Thankfully, there's only a month left until the release of Kishimoto's one-shot manga issue.

Following the launch of "Boruto," readers can also look forward to Kishimoto's new and untitled science-fiction manga series.
