Brennan's (Emily Deschanel) ex-boyfriend, Sully (Eddie McClintock), is coming back in the next season of "Bones." Could he be after her heart the second time around?

Fans of the FOX series remember McClintock's character as the specialist's eager ex-lover who wanted her to run away with him. During her younger years, Brennan already knew she was meant to be an integral part of the Jeffersonian. It did not cross her mind to leave her job. When Sully came and swept her off her feet, she did not realize that he has other plans for her. It was inevitable that they part ways. Now that he has returned, does he want to bring back old times?

McClintock recently updated his followers on Twitter. He is currently filming for the new installment. He posted a photo of himself together with the ladies of the show - Deschanel, Michaela Conlin (who plays Angela) and Tamara Taylor (who plays Cam). Fans expect that when Sully returns, he will have several scenes with Brennan. It will also be interesting to see how her husband, Booth (David Boreanaz), will react when they meet each other. Sully was way before Booth became involved with Brennan.

Previously, it has been teased that the married couple will face some hurdles. It will not be about Sully, though.

Executive producer Jonathan Collier has said in a TVLine interview that Zack (Eric Millegan) will make problems for Booth and Brennan. She was abducted in the last finale by her former intern. It remains to be seen if he is "The Puppeteer." There are rumors, though, that Zack will end up being Brennan's savior. Will the point of contention between the couple concern whether to send Zack to prison or not?

"They're going to have very different views — and it's not necessarily what you are expecting — of Zack's culpability and how much you can blame him, how one would judge him, and how one would forgive him," Collier said, according to TVLine.

The final season of "Bones" will air in 2017 on FOX.
