'Bloodline' season 3 plot rumors, release date: Danny Rayburn's son Nolan to take the lead
Danny Rayburn (Ben Mendelsohn) may have died early on in the first season of the Netflix series "Bloodline," but his memory and his legacy will live on in the upcoming season 3.
It turns out that Danny has a son, Nolan (Owen Teague), who came to the Rayburns to figure out what happened to his father. Ever since Nolan made his debut in "Bloodline" at the end of the first season, it is now speculated that he will take the lead role in season 3 and carry on his father's legacy.
This will somehow coincide with showrunner Glenn Kessler's earlier statement which confirmed that although Danny had died, he will still be part of the series. "It feels like the DNA of the show is really informed by Danny's influence on his family, so that will always be there, either in death or being haunted by his memory," Kessler told The Hollywood Reporter back in June.
With that said, it's possible that Nolan will step up to be the next Danny but this remains as a speculation. Although Teague's character shares a lot of similarities with Danny in terms of mannerisms and even looks, the young actor revealed in an interview with Tampa Bay Times that it's exactly what Nolan doesn't like – not getting the chance to "be his own person."
Nolan also had a bad relationship with his late father and it's likely that he won't take after him, Teague added. "He didn't have a good time with Danny as a dad. Danny was in and out of his life and kept letting Nolan down," the teen actor further explained. Nolan may not want to follow in the footsteps of his father but he does have some anger issues that will be further explored in the next season.
"Bloodline" is set to return on Netflix with brand new episodes for season 3. An exact premiere date has yet to be announced.
