'Big Hero 7' release rumors: Voice actress confirms talks about sequel; movie to be released in 2019?

(Facebook / Big Hero 6)Baymax will hit the small screen soon but his return to the big screen is also highly anticipated.

"Big Hero 6" was one of the biggest animated movie releases in 2014 and fans are now looking forward to the release of its sequel, currently dubbed as "Big Hero 7."

Walt Disney Pictures has not confirmed anything about a sequel, but talks about it have been rampant since last year. Even "Big Hero 6" superheroine Honey Lemon's voice actress, Genesis Rodriguez, gave hints about the possibility.

Speaking to MTV News in 2015, Rodriguez said, "There's nothing definitive. There's talks of something happening. We just don't know what yet." The Marvel Comics-based animated movie was a hit release for Walt Disney that after bagging an Oscar award for Best Animated Feature, fans' and even cast members' interest in a sequel has not died down.

Rodriguez expressed that she's excited to go back to the studio with the rest of the cast.

Despite the lack of confirmation from Walt Disney, speculations are rife that "Big Hero 7" will come out by 2019. This release date speculation began when Marvel Comics creator Stan Lee mentioned at the Gillette/Stark Industries event early last year the possibility of working on another "Big Hero 6" project again.

"After Ant-Man, we're going to start playing around with Doctor Strange, the Black Panther, the Inhumans, and then we have to come back for Guardians of the Galaxy 2, Big Hero 6, the Avengers, Captain America..." he said.

Considering that "Guardians of the Galaxy 2" already has a pegged release date of 2017, it is believed that "Big Hero 7" will follow two years later.

There are also rumors about what the sequel will focus on. Several media outlets have reported that "Big Hero 7" will see the return of Hiro's big brother Tadashi. In the original film, Tadashi was presumed to be dead during an explosion. However, no body was found and it is widely believed he'll return, with more rumors suggesting he'll do so as a villain.
