'Avatar 2' news: Michelle Rodriguez says she won't be in second installment

One of the most successful movies of all time will finally get a sequel, and fans are now curious about what's to come for the world of Pandora.
According to Christian Post, most of the cast of the 2009 motion picture "Avatar" will be returning to the sequel with one exception, actress, Michelle Rodriguez. The actress, who recently attended that Gabriela Cadena fashion show said that she has yet to be asked by director, James Cameron, to return for the sequel.
The actress told the NY Post, "They're bringing back a lot of other characters. I know [Sigourney Weaver's] coming back and the guy who played the bad guy, [Stephen Lang], is coming back. But yeah, I'm not gonna be in it."
While fans would remember that Weaver, who played Dr. Grace Augustine died on the first film. It is possible that she would return in the sequel as a new character.
Director, Cameron, sat down with "Today," to talk about his decision to bring Sigourney Weaver back. He said, "Sigourney and I have a long creative history, dating back to 1985 when we made 'Aliens.' We're good friends who've always worked well together, so it just feels right that she's coming back for the 'Avatar' sequels. Her character of Grace Augustine, as fans know, died in the first movie, so she's playing a different and in many ways more challenging character in the upcoming films. We're both looking forward to this new creative challenge, the latest chapter in our long and continuing collaboration."
Movie News Guide reports that "Avatar 2" will emphasize the oceans of Pandora and these ocean shots will be using a new technology from WETA.
"Avatar" has been regarded as one of the best animation films to date, winning over three Academy Awards including Best Cinematography in 2010. In 2011, Cameron announced that he was creating two sequels for the movie and stated in January of this year that the movie will be slated for release in December 2017.
