'Attack on Titan' season 2 release date brings delay for 'Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress' season 2?
It has been three years now since the first season of the hit anime series "Attack on Titan" aired on the small screens. Since then, the producers behind the series have remained tight-lipped about the release date of the upcoming season 2. New reports surfaced that it could be coming soon as another hit anime got delayed.
The upcoming "Attack on Titan" season 2 is believed to be underway. The reason behind this is the rumored delay of another hit anime series, "Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress." According to reports, the titan-themed anime is reportedly being prioritized by director Tetsuro Araki, who is also the same director of the steampunk anime series. Both series are waiting for their second installments but, apparently, fans of "Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress" are blaming "Attack on Titan" for its delay.
However, there is no confirmation to these speculations. If it turns out to be true, then it looks like "Attack on Titan" season 2 will come out before the second season of "Kabaneri." This could also mean that the air date is near.
As for the plotline of the upcoming season of "Attack on Titan," it is expected to follow its original material, the "Shingeki No Kyojin" manga. There have been speculations, however, that the anime may not religiously follow the source material.
Whether the anime follows the manga or not, it will most likely revolve around the secrets in the basement. One of the chapters in the manga, titled "Basement," is speculated to be the starting point of season 2's story arc.
Based on the said chapter, the Survey Corps members Armin, Eren, Sasha, Levi, Hanji, and Mikasa will realize that they are the only survivors of a certain titan encounter. Things will become complicated when they find out that Armin ate Bertolt and Hanji takes over as the commander of the Corps after the death of former chief Erwin.
Nothing is set in stone yet, but it is reported that "Attack on Titan" season 2 may come out sometime in 2017.
