'Attack on Titan' season 2 air date, spoilers, news: Eren's past to be unveiled

(Facebook/Shingeki no Kyojin)Rumor has it that Eren's past will be unveiled in 'Attack on Titan' season 2

Director Tetsuro Araki and his development team are preparing for the release of "Attack on Titan" season 2, and as early as now, numerous reports are emerging about the alleged plot for the upcoming installment.

It was confirmed earlier this year that a second season will be released sometime in 2017, and though there is not much known about the plot, recent reports suggest that fans will finally get to see more of Eren Yeager's past.

Rumor has it that aside from Eren finding out about his roots and beginnings, he will also potentially discover the truth about his half-brother, who may or may not exist. If the reports are true, viewers can expect a lot of emotional scenes for Eren as he slowly peels away the layers of his identity.

Since the first installment of "Attack on Titan" didn't really tackle much about Eren and his background, fans are expecting that more of his story will be detailed soon, as well as the works of his father, Dr. Grisha Yeager.

It is speculated that Eren and his team will embark on a mission to track down his father's long-lost basement where he will discover everything that he has been wanting to know about himself.

Other reports suggest that Mikasa will be in danger when "Attack on Titan" season 2 arrives. Though it is unclear if Mikasa will be saved, it is said that a Titan will be after her with the ultimate goal of destroying her.

Mikasa's alleged fate in the upcoming installment will be a challenge to Eren, aside from the many other issues he has to resolve. Will he be able to save his dear friend as he also tries to recover the last of the journals that his father has, which could finally answer his questions about his identity?

The exact premiere date for "Attack on Titan" season 2 has yet to be revealed but new episodes are expected to start airing sometime 2017.
