'Arrow' season 5 air date, spoilers: Major villain is someone Oliver had created in season 1

Less than three months from now, The CW's superhero series "Arrow" returns for a fifth season. Although fans have been waiting to learn who the big baddie is next season, executive producer Wendy Mericle already revealed a few details about it.
Before the start of the San Diego Comic-Con 2016, TV Guide magazine (print edition) already released a preview of the international event. One of the shows that was given spotlight is the upcoming season of "Arrow."
In the interview, Mericle revealed that the villain in season 5 is "somebody Oliver unwittingly created in Season 1 when he was a killer in a hood. This guy is going to be collateral damage who lost someone to the Hood and [has] spent the last several years training and plotting for revenge. He will be a true dark mirror to Oliver Queen [Stephen Amell]."
The executive producer also added that the villain is just one of Oliver and Team Arrow's numerous problems. She revealed that the Star City will be overrun with crime and it has been the lair of corruption and gang activity.
One of the mysteries that fans want to learn the answers is the last words of Katie Cassidy's Black Canary to Oliver in season 4 finale. Mericle assured fans that they will learn those last words right away in the season 5 premiere.
As for Black Canary's potential appearance on The CW's other superhero show, "Legends of Tomorrow," show creator Marc Guggenheim said that her appearance would be conflicting with their other plans. However, there are still talks that the DC Comics superheroine will emerge on the show in another way.
Stephen Amell previously teased on TV Line that season 5 is going to be really mean, his costume will be slightly modified, and someone from the past will visit Team Arrow again.
"Arrow" returns to The CW on Oct. 5 at 8 p.m.
