'ARK: Survival Evolved' Xbox One patch and Explorer Notes develop story further; more coming

The survival game, "ARK: Survival Evolved," which has dinosaurs that can be ridden, has been providing a lot of new content to gamers over the past few weeks. This roll out of new content is going to slow down over the next few months and instead, more attention is going to be paid to the story in the future.
Express states that the game, which is in its Early Access phase on Steam and is also available on the Xbox One console, got an update over the Valentine's Day weekend. With this update for the Xbox One, players got access to split screen in the game along with three new creatures, namely the gallimimus, dimetrodon and a dung beetle.
The Gallimimus has made an appearance in the game last month but with the current patch, it arrived on the Xbox One. This particular dinosaur is unique in the game because it is the fastest and is capable of carrying three riders on its back. However, it is more of a getaway vehicle as it does not have any armor in the form of a thick hide and cannot protect itself.
When the update for the Xbox One landed, the game's developer Studio Wildcard also provided more information about the Dimetrodon, which it described as a friendly carnivore with a sail. Using the sail on the back of this particular creature, players will be able protect themselves from heat and cold. While the dung beetle, as its name signifies, gobbles up waste and dung, which it then converts into oil that can be used as a fertilizer or as a fuel source. Also available in the patch were armor for players and a prod that is charged with electricity.
PCGamer, however, points out that the story portion of the game is going to be fleshed out in the future with Explorer Notes and these are going to be a welcome addition. One of these has already been released and they will each delve into the lives of characters that lived on the island previously. Using them, players will be able to unravel the mysteries that exist in the island and probably even have a better chance at surviving.
