English actress Hayley Atwell is joining the cast of Marvel's 'Ant-Man' movie, reports have confirmed.

The plot is not yet clear for Marvel's anticipated movie adaptation of Ant-Man, though developments in the casting department have hinted that the production is getting closer and closer.

According to reports, Hayley Atwell will play Agent Peggy Carter in Ant-Man, a role that she portrays in the television show, 'Marvel: Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'

Atwell will re-appear in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. for an upcoming episode in the second season entitled 'The Things We Bury.'

The actress' inclusion in 'Ant-Man' has opened doors for other cast members of Joss Whedon's series, to be tapped for future Marvel films.

Atwell has also played the same role in the movie 'Captain America The First Avenger.'

It has been said that Agent Carter will have something to do with a flashback which involves a Howard Stark and young Hank Pym, a huge role which will be played by actor, Michael Douglas.

During the 2014 San Diego Comic-Con, Douglas gave little-yet-vital details about a portion of the movie's plot, saying a 'tragic accident' will happen involving Pym's wife and daughter.

"But unfortunately during this process [of becoming Ant-Man], a tragic personal accident happened with [Pym's] wife [and] daughter," the actor said, as reported by HitFlix.

All Marvel and comic fans know that Pym's wife is Janet Van Dyne, also known as The Wasp. Though Douglas' comment did not necessarily mean death to The Wasp, many believe that the flashback could be related to this incident.

Ant-Man is set to hit the big screen with a release date on May 17, 2015.
