'American Idol' season 15: Iconic singing show competition nearing the end
Emotions are running higher with each "American Idol" episode, which ends in two weeks.
Season 15 is now down to the top 4 contestants, namely Mackenzie Bourg, Trent Harmon, Dalton Rapattoni, and L'Porsha Renae. The four are headed to their respective hometowns during the weekend as part of Idol's tradition.
Bourg was welcomed by adoring fans in Lafayette in New Orleans, Louisiana. He paraded along Jefferson Street before heading to Parc International where he was greeted by newly elected Mayor Joel Robideaux.
Harmon was flocked by supporters as well when he went home to Amory, Mississippi. The Main Street was closed for his parade leading to Amory High School's Football Stadium where we was welcomed by Mayor Brad Blalock.
Fans rushed to catch a glimpse of Dalton when he was at Sunnyvale Dallas in Texas. His parade started at Sunnyvale High School and headed to Town Center Park where he entertained the screaming crowd.
Renae was warmly received in McComb Mississippi where the crowd gathered as she paraded through downtown McComb High School where her performances were greeted by loud applause. She also stopped by the Jubilee Performing Arts Center where an 8-year-old fan cried in joy upon meeting her.
"American Idol" crew were there to capture the moment and the highlights will be shown when Idol returns on Thursday. Unlike the previous seasons where only two contestants are left to battle in the finale, three will fight for the title this year, which means only one will be eliminated.
The contestants will sing three songs each this week. One song will be chosen by the judges, the other chosen by this year's mentor, Scott Borchetta, and the last will be their choice. One of the judges, country superstar Keith Urban, will also perform during the show.
Two of the biggest stars ever to be produced by the show have been announced to perform on the finale. The first-ever Idol who has already guested this season will return on the stage, as well as the fourth Idol Carrie Underwood, who continues to dominate the music stream.
