With the AMD Radeon RX 480 graphics card releasing recently, many gamers and websites have been quick to compare it to the Nvidia GTX 1070. As results of these comparisons have started to hit the Internet, gamers have been more than happy with both the graphics cards. The GTX 1070 has managed to come out ahead in some aspects, but when it comes to price, the Radeon RX 480 leads.

One of the main problems that have been revealed since the Radeon RX 480 released is the amount of power it draws. Commenting on this, Seeking Alpha states that the higher-than-normal power being consumed by the graphics card could result in issues arising around it in future.

This high amount of power being consumed by the RX 480 has been pointed out by a number of other sites that also ran detailed tests on it. According to them, the amount exceeds the target thermal design power (TDP). This means that the RX 480 does not fall within the limits that are laid out by the PCI Express specification. However, with the price of the card being a major draw and the fact that it delivers VR gaming, it is likely that consumers will want the RX 480 if they do not want to spend more for the GeForce GTX 1070. The site goes on to point out that the pricing of the card at $199 is good news.

Meanwhile, GameDebate states that in terms of overall gaming performance, the Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 overshadows the RX 480. It also points out that the graphics card from Nvidia has a higher core clock speed than its competitor and this results in better pixeling performance.

In a comparison of these two graphics cards, PC Advisor states that their new architecture works in their favor. On the GeForce GTX 1070, the architecture is Pascal, while the Radeon RX 480 has the Polaris GPU architecture. It also points out that the Radeon RX 480 is going to win when it comes to price as it is below half the cost of the GeForce GTX 1070 and is therefore going to sell better to those who want to indulge in casual gaming.
