Alcatel Xess release date, price: 17.3-inch tablet designed as the perfect home companion
Alcatel, in collaboration with its parent company TCL, has announced the arrival of the 17.3-inch Xess tablet. Initially unveiled at the CES 2016 last January, the large multipurpose tablet will finally be available to purchase starting Apr. 22 for $499.
The Alcatel Xess is the perfect home accessory and companion — it can be used to create work presentations, research recipes in the kitchen, watch movies, and play games in the living room. The tablet also comes with a stylus that can be used for sketching or drawing. Regardless of how the tablet will be used, the three-watt JBL dual-speaker setup ensures that sounds will be accurate and true-to-life.
It features a large Full HD display housed in a slim and sleek stainless steel body. On the other side, there is a built-in 9.5 mm adjustable stand and carrying handle. The stand can be positioned at a variety of angles to optimize entertainment and productivity. The tablet can also be mounted on the wall.
The Xess is powered by an octa-core 1.5 GHz MediaTek processor and 3 GB of RAM. There is also 32 GB of internal storage but can be expanded up to 64 GB via a microSD card slot.
The U.S. version of the Xess tablet will also ship with an IP camera that can be used to monitor children when they are in their nursery or playroom. Parents can keep an eye on their children via the Xess tablet when in another room or on their mobile devices when out of the house. Alcatel's partnership with Viacom will also give users access to the Noggin and Nickelodeon apps. Kids can enjoy hit shows from Viacom including "PAW Patrol." Parents can also add additional content from the Google Play Store.
The Alcatel Xess tablet is backed by a 9,600 mAh battery that will be able to provide a full day's use. When charging, the tablet's magnetic quick release charger will prevent users from tripping over the cord.
