'MythBusters' final season airs on March 5; Ends the show with a bang
Since 2003, the science TV program on Discovery Channel called "MythBusters" have conducted 2,950 experiments, busted 1,050 myths, and created 900 explosions. However, all good things must come to an end. The show bids their last farewell in their series finale, titled "Grand Finale," on March 5.
Less than a week from now, "MythBusters" will lower the curtains as the show closes with its explosive finale episode. According to CNET, the science duo Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman, whom all fans have come to love, promise to end the show with a bang—a literal one.
The official synopsis of the finale episode from Discovery Channel reads: "The guys are going out with a bang and then some: an RV gets blown to kingdom come, Buster goes supersonic, Adam takes the most wild ride imaginable and—well, Cement Truck. It all boils down to a cement truck filled with 5,000 pounds of ANFO as the MythBusters sign off in style."
After the "Grand Finale," there will be a reunion show which will show the return of the B-team and co-hosts Kari Byron, Tory Belleci, and Grant Imahara. They are expected to share and reveal their favorite experiments, episodes, and experiences in the show.
In a video on facebook, "MythBusters" officially announced last year that Jan. 9, 2016 is the final season premiere of Discovery Channel's longest-running series. The channel and the show's producer did not give any comments on why the show was cancelled.
The show's hosts Savage and Hyneman are special effects experts who uses science to test the validity of popular—and sometimes unpopular—rumors, myths, adages, viral stories, movie scenes, and more.
In their 14 year-run on television, they have also featured and invited famous figures to help them test myths including "Avatar" director James Cameron, comedian Seth Rogen, "Breaking Bad" star Aaron Paul, and even U.S. President Barack Obama.
