2015 LA Auto Show news: car loves treated to a look at special edition Jeep Wrangler Backcountry and Grand Cherokee SRT Night
Jeep will be unveiling two special edition models during the 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show happening from Nov. 17 through 30. The two models are the 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT Night and the 2016 Jeep Wrangler Backcountry.
"Jeep enthusiasts anticipate and truly appreciate special-edition models that deliver a customized Jeep SUV right from the factory. The Grand Cherokee SRT Night and Wrangler Backcountry both offer a distinctive appearance, while delivering an array of prominent performance and capability features," said Mike Manley, Head of the Jeep Brand – FCA Global.
The 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT Night edition looks stealth-like due to its premium black appearance. The Jeep comes with a unique black roof, rear spoiler and front grille bezels. The side windows, B, and C pillars are also adorned with Gloss Black. It is also equipped with 20-inch lightweight five-spoke wheels with a Satin Black finish.
There are three exterior paint options - Velvet Red, Billet Silver and Granite Crystal. Inside, interiors come in Black Laguna leather with silver accent stitching and black chrome bezels.
The 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT Night is powered by a 6.4-liter V-8 engine with fuel saver technology, adaptive damping suspension and a Select-Track Traction Control system. The engine produces 475 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. It can go from 0 to 60 mph in 4.8 seconds, 0 to 100 mph in 16.3 seconds and attain a top speed of 160 mph.
Optional features include a sunroof, a dual-screen rear entertainment system, 19-speaker Harman Kardon stereo system, trailer tow package and spare tires.
The 2016 Jeep Wrangler Backcountry is based on the Wrangler Sahara model but comes with a winter capability theme. The Backcountry also comes with the most capable off-road features.
The Jeep comes with a Backcountry decal on the front gender and rear quarter panel, unique off-road bumpers and a black fuel fill door. It is also equipped with 17-inch Rubicon wheels in Mid-gloss Black.
There are five exterior paint options – Hydro Blue, Black, Bright White, Granite Crystal and the new Xtreme Purple.
Inside, there are Piano Black interiors including the vent tings, door handles and grab handles. The console and door armrests come with Diesel Gray accent stitching. It is also equipped with black McKinley leather seats with black sport mesh inserts. The Jeep also comes with a premium nine-speaker Alpine sound system and Bluetooth connectivity.
The 2016 Jeep Wrangler Backcountry will arrive in showrooms later this month. The 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT Night is scheduled to arrive by the first quarter of 2016.
