After the first season became a big hit in 2016, "Yuri!!! On Ice" fans are hoping that season 2 is forthcoming.

Yuri won silver medal at the end of the first season, but he was still aiming for the gold and was looking forward to be joined by Victor in the figure skating world once again. This clearly sends a signal to fans all around the world that there will be another season for the hit sports anime series.

Droid Report noted that Victor's revelation of his plan to do a comeback in the figure skating competition both as coach and as a competitor will create a major plot point for a new season.

The characterization of the next season will not lack drama especially if Victor, Yuri's coach, will also join the competition. This opens to the possibility of seeing Yuri's dream of being the best figure skater in the world crushed. Since Yuri and Yurio both want to have Victor as their coach, season 2 could probably easily explore the rather complicated relationship among the three.

The first season's finale episode ended with the words "See You NEXT LEVEL" marked on the screen. This, according to HNGN, gives fans hope amid the absence of announcement from the makers with regard to the next season.

Rumors have it that the "Next Level" will happen sometime in October of this year, but this remains to be a rumor as there are no official announcements as of yet.

Nonetheless, creator Mitsuoru Kubo was quoted by Inquisitr saying, "For the rest of this year I'll be pouring all my energy into 'Yuri!!! on ICE.'" This statement likely suggests a second season but as to when it will be released, fans are still waiting for official announcements.

This hit Japanese anime series touched the hearts of many all over the world with its unique and beautiful storyline. It has since received awards including the recent Anime Fan Award at Tokyo Anime Award Festival 2017.
