'The Vampire Diaries' season 8 spoilers: 'Steroline' makes a way for Elena to return to show?

(Facebook / The Vampire Diaries)"The Vampire Diaries" season 8 will premiere in Fall and until then the evil that possessed Damon and Enzo remains unknown.

Ever since Nina Dobrev walked out of "The Vampire Diaries," fans of the "Delena" couple have been wanting for her character, Elena, to return. And recently, rumors have been circling online regarding the possible storyline that could bring Elena back.

As fans saw on the finale of season seven, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Enzo (Michael Malarkey) seemed to be cursed and started a murder spree after saving Bonnie (Kat Graham). While Bonnie feels bad that she is the reason for Damon and Enzo's change, she wasn't able to find an immediate cure to get the two off the curse.

Elena has been rumored to return ever since her voice was heard in the previous season. Though EP Julie Plec previously said she would love to have Dobrev back, there has been no official word regarding her supposed comeback.

Movie Pilot suggests that Plec and the writing team could possibly bring back Elena through various storylines. One of the mentioned plots is that of Bonnie eventually breaking Enzo's curse later in the season. What about Damon?

The outlet says Stefan (Paul Wesley) and Caroline (Candice King) could embark on a mission - one that sees Elena waking up from her deep sleep. If Bonnie will be able to wake Enzo from his trance, Elena's love might possibly overpower Damon's urge to kill.

Meanwhile, HOF Mag speculates that Damon may see his end in "The Vampire Diaries" season eight. There have been rumors about his demise, as some fans believe it is now time to shine the spotlight on the Bonnie-Enzo and Caroline-Stefan love story arcs.

The speculations stemmed from Plec's recent comments about the fates of both Damon and Stefan once the eight installment premieres. She said that the writers have yet to come up with lines for the two. Her remarks made some believe that either of the two characters will soon be killed off.

"The Vampire Diaries" season eight is expected to premiere later this year, possibly in October.
