The story details for the upcoming "Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series" game are finally revealed.

During the DICE 2017 event this week, Marvel Games creative director Bill Rosemann opened up about the plot details of the soon-to-be released space-travelling adventure series.

According to the game director, they are bent on creating the best story and focusing on the development of each character of the game, including Star-Lord, Drax, Gamora, Rocket, and Groot.

Rosemann also revealed during his talk at the annual video game summit in Las Vegas on Thursday, Feb. 23, that the new episodic video game series will answer the questions: "Who are they? What do they want? How are they a family? What could tear that family apart?"

The plot for the upcoming game has been posted on GameStop's pre-order page. It claims that Star-Lord, Drax, Gamora, Rocket, and Groot will venture into an epic journey to find a famed artifact that possesses extraordinary powers. All the members of the Guardians reportedly have their own reason to get their hands on the relic, but they must also protect it from a ruthless nemesis who will do everything that she can to own the very important artifact.

"From Earth to the Milano to Knowhere and beyond, and set to the beat of awesome music, this five-part episodic series puts you in the rocket-powered boots of Star-Lord in an original Guardians adventure, told in the unique and award-winning Telltale style, where your decisions and actions will drive the path of the story you experience," the game's description states.

"Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series" was first announced during The Game Awards 2016. It will be composed of five episodes where players must portray multiple roles. This means that they could use each member of the Guardians to succeed in their battles that will happen across the universe.

The game is expected to be released on Android, iOS, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360 sometime after Marvel releases the upcoming "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" movie on May 5.
