'Super Smash Bros' updates: Goku of 'Dragon Ball' modded into the game

"Super Smash Bros." already has an impressive lineup of fighters from different game titles that should make the fighting game interesting. However, there are fans who still want more characters to be part of the game.

One of the most requested characters is "Dragon Ball" universe's Goku. A lot of players want him to join the lineup. Apparently, he just did – thanks to persistent modders.

With game modifications, making Goku part of the roster was realized and he did appear in "Super Smash Bros." Modders achieved this by using an existing character, Ryu, and gave it tweaks to look like Goku, complete with a voice pack so he can say his famous power line, "Kamehameha."

The mod is still in its developmental stages but a video of how it turned out was already posted online (shown below). It should be noted though that Goku's appearance in the game is not official. This only shows just how much several "Super Smash Bros" players want him in the game.

In 2015, fans launched a petition to make Goku part of the official roster. A lot of people supported the campaign but obviously, it didn't help get the character get into the game. It is also highly unlikely that Goku will join the "Super Smash Bros" roster in the future, according to Scott Smillie, a game analyst. Smillie said that "Dragon Ball's" Bandai Namco has its own share of fighting games to promote, but the idea is not entirely impossible.

Media outlets have dubbed this latest Goku mod to be the best so far, since it not only has Goku's face but also his voice. Yet, there are those who were not too happy about the mod. Some even described it as an ugly Goku mod. Whether or not the countless times Goku has been inserted in the game would finally get the attention of Nintendo remains to be seen.

"Super Smash Bros." is currently available for Nintendo 3DS and Wii U.
