'Scandal' season 6 spoilers, air date: Fitz is ready to take back what is his

(Facebook/ScandalABC)Fitz enjoys life outside the White House in "Scandal" season 6.

Fitzgerald Grant (Tony Goldwyn) will pursue his own happiness in the upcoming episode of "Scandal." With him officially stepping down from his position and leaving the White House, he is now free to do whatever he wants.

For fans of "Olitz," the best kind of storyline for the new installment will probably involve seeing Olivia Pope (Kerry Washington) and Fitz together again.

Goldwyn recently spoke to E! Online, stating they have started with the table read for season 6 and it has been "unbelievably good." Of course, viewers will have to wait until possibly January to see the new episodes since the series is making way for Washington's pregnancy. The actress is currently pregnant with her second child and it has been teased though that her character Olivia will not have the same condition in the show, hence the brief break.

Last installment, Olivia appeared to have chosen Jake Ballard (Scott Foley). She risked everything to get him out of her father's clutches and made him Mellie's (Bellamy Young) running mate. Jake will go against Cyrus Beene (Jeff Perry) for the vice presidential seat. Fitz, on the other hand, seemed to have been forgotten. Olivia was determined to move on with her life and forget what they had. Shortly after she left him, she had an abortion.

In his interview with The Hollywood Reporter last April, Goldwyn said Fitz would probably attempt a second chance with the fair lady.

"He'll be much happier as the post-president than as the president. He'd want to do something like Jimmy Carter or Bill Clinton did with the Clinton Global Initiative and use his leverage and influence to make a real difference in the world without all the politics. You really hope it includes Olivia Pope and a little jam. We'll hire someone to make jam on weekends in Vermont! I've gotten many, many, many, many jars of jam in the mail from fans," Goldwyn teased.

"Scandal" season 6 is expected to premiere midseason 2017 on ABC.
