Samsung has just unleashed the Samsung NXmini, a really smart cam optimized for easily taking great selfies.

The NXmini is the newest member of Samsung's NX SMART Camera line. It's the world's slimmest and lightest interchangeable-lens digital camera, according to its maker.

Samsung claims the NXmini is the perfect selfie shooter. The NXmini has a 3.0-inch 320x480 Flip up and Touch display. This screen can flip up to 180 degrees so you won't have to worry whether the camera is targeting your best side or if only half your face is in the frame. Sharing pictures is simple thanks to built-in Wi-Fi and NFC.

The 9 mm wide-angle lens ensures great group selfie shots. And finally, a "Wink" shot takes the pain out of having to manually press a button. Simply wink at the camera after you've set up the perfect pose; wait for two seconds and "Bam!" another selfie. How easy is that?

Samsung is positioning NXmini as a smartphone companion. The camera's different lenses take imaging performance and quality beyond anything the average rear-facing smartphone camera lens can capture.

NXmini measures just 110.4 x 61.9 x 22.5mm, making it is shorter and narrower than a Samsung Galaxy S5 smartphone but more than twice as thick. The reason for this tiny size is that Samsung sees its latest camera as a smartphone companion.

NXmini boasts a much better build quality because of its magnesium and aluminum frame and the use of colored faux leather to wrap the body and offer better grip.

The NXmini will retail for $449, paired with the new 9 mm NX-M lens, or $549 when paired with the 9-27 mm lens and SEF-7A flash. NX-M lenses will be available separately. The 9 mm and 9 mm-27 mm NX-M lenses will retail for $179 and $279, respectively. The 17 mm NX-M lens will be available at a later date.
