Ever since its release in 2010, fans have been requesting for a PC version of the hit game "Red Dead Redemption." Recently, a group of modders began working on porting the game to the platform by bringing it to the realms of "Grand Theft Auto V."

Headed by developer Mr. Leisurewear, the full game's map will be modded into "GTA V" on PC. One of the modders, Jeric, took it to GTA Forums to show some screenshots of the project.

"That's 2 years of work right there, by Mr. Leisurewear that is. Glad it's finally unveiled. Expect more info and screenshots soon," he wrote.

The modders dubbed the project as "Red Dead Redemption 5," and it will soon have a multiplayer mode using third party clients. As of this writing, according to Gamerant, the team is focusing on cracking the code in order to successfully import the assets taken from "Red Dead Redemption's" Xbox 360 version to the PC. This is a task that requires an incredible amount of technical skills, but it is not impossible to complete.

The team may use the reverse engineering method using the executable file since the console version of "RDR" is well-encrypted in the Rockstar Games propriety format. When this is done, the files will be hashed with a certain algorithm called Jenkin's Hash.

"We are mostly looking for programmers who are able to help us reverse engineer the file formats. We are also looking for scripters who are able to remake any of the game's original content over to GTA V, think minigames and certain mechanics such as Dead Eye Targeting," Jeric explained.

The beta version of this is slated to be available this summer, but fans of both "RDR" and "GTA V" are already expecting highly of it. Gamers are particularly looking forward to what Trevor would do in the west.
