'Outlander' season 3 premiere spoilers: There is no stopping Claire and Jamie
Two decades of being apart will not stop Claire (Caitriona Balfe) and Jamie (Sam Heughan) from falling in love with each other again in the upcoming season of "Outlander."
The new installment of the drama series is expected to continue the story of the star-crossed lovers after the events of the Battle of Culloden. The plotline will be based on Diana Gabaldon's third book, "Voyager," where a time jump of 20 years is set to happen. Claire and Jamie, who have been separated for those times, will soon reunite. Jamie will be older, but that will not stop the lady from loving him. Balfe recently spoke to Variety about the couple's difficult journey. According to her, the thing to look forward to in season 3 is watching Claire and Jamie fall in love all over again.
"I think both of them have probably held each other up on a pedestal for 20 years, so in many ways, they're going to have to destroy that image first before they can fall in love with the person right in front of them, and that's going to be really interesting. I love the complexity of that, because you can't be in love with a ghost, and Claire is in many ways in love with Jamie's ghost, as Jamie is in love with her ghost, and that's not the people they are when they see each other again," the actress said.
Meanwhile, the series is reportedly looking for an actor to portray the adult Lord John Grey. Speculations are rife that this is because the time has come for him to come out of the closet and start accepting the truth about himself. In Gabaldon's books, Grey is gay and he has secret affections for Jamie. Rumors claim that he will do his best to protect the object of his affection. As a reward, Jamie will allegedly bestow him a kiss. It remains unsure, though, if the scene will be included in the new season.
"Outlander" season 3 is rumored to air in early 2017 on Starz.
