Macbook Pro Retina, Macbook Air specs updates; Rumors debating possible 2014 release date

There have been lots of rumors circulating lately, with regards to Apple's MacBook Pro Retina and the MacBook Air. Apple is usually seen releasing new computer notebooks every two years, while making minor or dramatic updates to specs, design or battery life performance. Last year, Apple unveiled the MacBook Pro Retina.

Rumors say the MacBook Pro Retina will receive a minor upgrade this year, and among the limited details there is a mention of a RAM upgrade that will give the device lightning-quick performance.

Another widely discussed topic among the rumors is that a new MacBook Air will be released in June, plus the launching of a MacBook Air Retina, featuring a high-resolution display.

According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo from KGI Securities, a new MacBook Air is in the pipeline with a 12-inch display, slimmer design, and with more power and productivity in a smaller package. The new design will allegedly have no fans or buttons.

It remains debated, however, on whether the Cupertino team will just have minor product updates ready for June. Both the MacBook Pro and MacBook Air are expected to come out in the third or fourth quarter, in time for the holiday shopping season.

GottaBeMobile, for instance, does not expect the MacBook Air to be announced on June 2, during the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC 2014) event. The site rather believes Kuo's prediction that the device will come out at a later 2014 date.

Other reports said, however, that while the device may miss Apple's big event at Moscone West, San Francisco, it will still go on to be released in June. This following the line that it will be quite similar to last year, when the current MacBook Air was announced in June, 2013.

A low-cost iMac might also come in the second quarter, Kuo predicts, while iPhone 6 will roll out in the last quarter of this year.
