'New Girl' season 6 spoilers: Schmidt's first name will be finally exposed

(Facebook/NewGirlonFOX)The mysterious first name of Schmidt will finally be unveiled in the penultimate episode of "New Girl" season 6.

One of the biggest mysteries of "New Girl" will finally be revealed on the next episode of season 6.

FOX released a new trailer for the penultimate episode of "New Girl" season 6 titled "San Diego" to tease that a big revelation is up ahead.

According to the trailer, the question about Schmidt's (Max Greenfield) mysterious first name will finally be answered. But it seems like Schmidt himself is not happy about it, since he claims that it could be "the worst name in the history of names."

Revealing Schmidt's name in the upcoming episode could be another clue that the sixth season of the comedy sitcom will be its last. In the previous episodes, the main characters of the series faced major milestones in their lives. Jess (Zooey Deschanel) finally landed her dream job as a school principal, while Nick (Jake Johnson) managed to write and publish his own book.

On the other hand, Schmidt and Cece (Hannah Simone) finally moved in to their own home after their wedding, while Winston (Lamorne Morris) got engaged with Aly (Nasim Pedrad). This means that Winston could soon move out of the loft with his fiancée after they get married, leaving Jess and Nick behind.

Meanwhile, rumors about the show's cancellation were ignited when Johnson told The Daily Beast that the greenlight for season 7 has yet to be given by the network.

"Fox won't tell us [whether the show will be renewed]," the actor stated in the interview to promote the "Win It All" film from Netflix at the SXSW earlier this month. "But we shot a finale where, if this was the end, the core fan base would be OK."

But Johnson and the rest of the cast are still under contract with the network, which means that they still have to reprise their roles for the next season of "New Girl" if FOX calls for its renewal.

The penultimate episode of "New Girl" season 6 will air on Tuesday, March 28, at 8 p.m. EDT.
