NBA trade rumors continue to flood online sites as the 2016–2017 trade season deadline fast approaches. The deadline is set for Feb. 23, 3 p.m. EDT, and latest rumors suggest that New York Knicks' Derrick Rose might be available for the trade market.

Rumors were fueled by a Tweet by Bleacher Report mentioning that the 28-year-old point guard is believed to be looking for a five-year contract with a handsome $150 million deal this off-season. Rose was previously named Rookie of the Year and went on to become the youngest NBA player to ever receive the Most Valuable Player Award in 2011. During the season he won his MVP Award, the athlete was struggling with a knee injury.

If there's one thing that Rose has going for him, it is definitely his determination to play the game like nobody ever has, regardless of his personal circumstances. Rose, however, eventually succumbed to his injury and missed the entire season of 2012–2013 while playing for Chicago Bulls, as mentioned on NBA's official site.

While Rose is clearly an asset to any NBA team, reports are speculating that the $150 million asking price is too much for the Knicks or any team for that matter. Forbes reports that if the Knicks fail to close the deal with Rose, it is highly likely that it will look into the possibility of pursuing Chris Paul of the Los Angeles Clippers, Kyle Lowry of Toronto Raptors, or Jeff Teague of Indiana Pacers.

Meanwhile, prior to the Knicks game versus the Raptors, Rose revealed what he thinks about going against Lowry, saying, "It's the same type of thing as every guy in the league." Rose also added, "Every point guard in the league is tough. Kyle, he's playing on a great team. He's doing a good job of leading that team."

In other news, Rose found himself in hot water last week when he failed to turn up in the Knicks game against the New Orleans Pelicans. The point guard reportedly flew to Chicago for personal matters without informing anybody from the team. It is said that Rose was fined nearly $200,000 for the misdeed.

The trade season is a time when team executives look closely into their respective franchises to assess and analyze all possible angles. Studying the potential of trading a player does not only look into achieving present-day returns but intends to identify long-term assets at the same time.
