'Marvel's Inhumans' cast news, spoilers: 'Game of Thrones' actor cast as villain in upcoming Marvel series

Marvel is further expanding the small screen universe with the upcoming ABC series "Inhumans." Little is known about the show, but the studio has confirmed its first cast member, "Game of Thrones" star Iwan Rheon.

The critically acclaimed actor will be portraying yet another villain. Rheon has been cast as Maximus in Marvel's highly awaited "Inhumans." Like most Marvel stories, the forthcoming series tells the race of highly powerful beings. The "Inhuman" characters were reintroduced in the previous season of ABC's "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D."

According to the studio, the upcoming series narrates the never-before-told adventures of Black Bolt and the royal family. Rheon's character, Maximus the Mad, is a witty Inhuman, who is passionate about Attilan and its King, his brother. He, however, also desires the throne for himself.

"Iwan's ability to be charming, roguish, and still completely unexpectedly dangerous were all the different sides we needed to bring the character to life. We're thrilled to have him on board," head of Marvel Television and executive producer Jeph Loeb revealed.

It seems like Maximus is no different from Rheon's character in "Game of Thrones," Ramsay Bolton, who also had his eyes set on the throne. Unfortunately, his character in the critically acclaimed series was not meant for greatness. The infamous character was killed off in the latest season of "Game of Thrones," in a very memorable scene that does not shy away from blood and brutality.

"Inhumans" was first introduced by comic book legends Stan Lee and Jack Kirby in 1965.

"Inhumans" is slated to premiere on ABC Network in the fall. The first two episodes of the series will debut on IMAX theaters for a span of two weeks in September, prior to its small screen premiere.

Fans have to wait a few more months, but more updates on "Marvel's Inhumans" should arrive soon.
