The iPhone 7 is almost here, and as with many eagerly anticipated devices, people are already thinking about when they may be able to get their hands on it.

First things first, and when it comes to Apple's newest smartphone, the nearest date of most importance is expected to be Sept. 7.

Apple has already announced that they will be hosting an event on the aforementioned date, and even though the technology giant has yet to indicate exactly what they will show off at the upcoming event, industry insiders believe that it will be the official launching pad for the company's next smartphone.

So now that an official launch date has seemingly been pinned down, the question now is when can people start ordering it?

According to a tweet from the renowned tipster Evan Blass, pre-orders for the new Apple smartphone will go live on Sept. 9, just a few days after the aforementioned event.

Considering that new Apple smartphones are typically pretty good sellers, major carriers such as AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile and Verizon are likely to have pre-orders up for the iPhone 7 as soon as possible, though exact times are not available at this point.

The retail release of the soon-to-be announced smartphone is also expected to take place not long after the initial launch.

According to a separate tweet from Blass, the retail release of the upcoming smartphone should take place just a little over a week after it is officially launched. Specifically, the tweet from Blass noted that the retail release is expected to take place on Sept. 16.

The retail release potentially taking place so close to the official launch likely means that people who want to get their hands on this particular Apple smartphone right away will have to act fast if they want to ensure that they are among the first to own it.
