'Homeland' season 6 spoilers: Saul and Dar fight for supremacy

(Facebook/HomelandOnShowtime)Saul and Dar's rivalry continues in the next season of "Homeland."

Tension will rise between the two senior agents of the CIA, Saul (Mandy Patinkin) and Dar Adal (F. Murray Abraham) in the upcoming season of "Homeland."

As per the promo trailer, both men will be assigned to assist the newly elected U.S. president with intelligence briefings in behalf of the CIA. It is going to be an important job since a lot is expected to happen in the new installment.

Previously, it has been teased that the entire country will be in unrest even before Elizabeth Keane's (Elizabeth Marvel) leadership starts. The entire time from her election to the oath-taking ceremony, the U.S. government will be on tenterhooks, waiting for the enemy to attack.

Saul and Dar will not waste such an opportunity to expand their contacts and become even more influential than they currently are. They will both want to be noticed by the new POTUS, each wanting to one-up the other. Aside from their work-related rivalry, the two CIA men will also continue their bickering with regards to Carrie's (Clare Danes) eventual return to the agency. Saul is determined to have her back, but Dar is against the idea. In the clip, he is shown warning Carrie to stay out of his way or she will regret what is going to happen to her and to her daughter, Frannnie.

Carrie also shows similar antagonism towards Dar. She knows he is hiding a lot of secrets and is not as pure as he is pretending to be. Dar does not even have to harass her to prevent her from going back to the CIA. She has no intention of doing so, no matter how much Saul tries to persuade her.

Danes said that Carrie's priorities have changed for season 6. Although she and Saul would remain tight, they have different concerns now.

"They have diverged. There has been a split that they've been working on repairing over the course of the last couple of seasons to varying degrees of success. Saul has committed himself even more fully to the agency, and Carrie rejects some fundamental principles of it. That's very difficult to reconcile, but they are so profoundly bonded. That's something they'll never be able to rid themselves of, but she's matured to a very different place than he has," Danes said, according to Inquisitr.

"Homeland" season 6 airs Jan. 15, 2017 on Showtime.
